> Ipswich Art School
Ipswich Art School re-opened as a contemporary art space in 2010 and shows exhibitions of international importance whilst providing a unique stage for local artists to show their work. The gallery's major focus is for modern and contemporary collections, inspiring a new generation. Visitors can enjoy a variety of events and exhibitions throughout the year.
The re-opening of the Art School as a gallery is an effort to ensure that learning continues to be at the heart of this building. A teachers' launch has already been held at the re-opened space, which 70 teachers attended in preparation for group visits and art workshops during the Autumn term.
The Saatchi Gallery loaned works to the former Art School by seven artists, including Alexandra Bircken, Thomas Houseago, Matthew Monahan, Will Ryman, Francis Upritchard, Rebecca Warren and Andy Yoder. These works were on exhibition at the Ipswich Art School Gallery in High Street, Ipswich, until January 9, 2011.
